CONCHITA TRIBUTE TO LORCA
In 2026, Patricia Langa created Conchita: Tribute to Lorca, a solo performance celebrating the work and legacy of Federico García Lorca. Through her character Conchita, Patricia brings together a selection of Lorca’s poetry and songs he wrote, combining dance, flamenco, lip-sync, drag and poetry to create a vibrant and moving piece which will evoke the figure and legacy of the poet, addressing his death as an episode of violence and memory that continues to speak to the present.
The performance will offer a reflection on absence, identity and freedom, reclaiming Lorca's work from a contemporary perspective and asserting the continued relevance of his voice and artistic legacy.
The piece has been performed throughout 2026 in honour of the 90th anniversary of Lorca’s assassination. Patricia first performed the solo at the Romancero Books Sant Jordi Book Market in April, followed by a Pride event at the European Commission in London in July, and Chepstow Pride in Wales.
She will now perform an extended version at the Spanish Embassy in London as part of the opening event of the Queer Spanish Culture Festival, followed by a further performance on 21 November at The Divine as part of the festival.
